About Sugar Castles *Updated*

Lisa and me at my wedding
My name is Amber Lichtenstein Lorenzo and I am the one behind Sugar Castles- Cakes and Sweets. I started decorating cakes in 2005 while working at the Dairy Queen in my town. The owner had sent me to take a basic Wilton class where I quickly fell in love with all the different decorating techniques and started experimenting with cakes at home. After graduating from school, I worked in a local bakery where I met my best friend, Lisa, who taught me simple tricks and gave me advice on how to better my decorating skills. I left the bakery sometime later to go to a training school for dental assisting but I continued baking and decorating for friends and family.

Quick family picture
I married my long-time sweet heart in December of 2009. Jerry and I had met during my time at Dairy Queen and had been together ever since. He had continuously supported me in everything I did and wanted me to be nothing but happy.  After welcoming our son,Hayden,  in 2008, we both wanted to provide Hayden with a safe, loving and stable home. At this time, we decided to start the process to obtain Jerry's United States Visa so that Hayden would have a father who would always be there for him.

It was a long process but Jerry's finally in the last stages of getting his Visa. In August he left to Ciudad Juarez for his first interview. It's been three long months without him. His second and final (hopefully!) interview is scheduled for next week. We had planned for him to be gone for only three months. However, I was informed earlier this month that the processing times to hear if you are approved after your second interview went from 2-3 days to 2-3 months. As our savings dwindled, I decided I would need to start working a second job to insure that I didn't fall behind on bills.

Hayden and me
After discussing with my family about my needs, they stepped up and offered to help in a way that I didn't really expect. Instead of me getting a second job, they wanted me to stay home with Hayden and focus on advertising and getting more business for my cakes and cupcakes. In exchange for this, they would help me when I needed it. So, here I am. I am trying to expand my customer base and gain more business to help support my son and myself until my husband returns. I will be working as a dental assistant during the day and cake decorator at night. I'm scared and worried about what will happen after Jerry's interview but I trust that God has his plans layed out for me and I will make it through this.

I love decorating cakes and cupcakes. I can personally promise that I will never sell you a product that I wouldn't brag to my friends about making. Please feel free to contact me with any questions that you may have about future orders.

"I can do all things through Him who strengthens me."
